The Dorchester Alcohol and Drug Commission believes that:
Chemical dependency is a chronic, primary, and progressive disease which,
if left untreated, is fatal
Access to quality care shall not be based on gender,
age, race, color, creed, physical/mental handicap, indigence, or sexual
orientation
All persons afflicted with chemical dependency, who have
co-existing mental health diagnoses, or who are experiencing other mental
emotional difficulties deserve the highest quality of care available,
provided with respect and dignity by qualified and educated staff
Since a person's chemical dependency or mental health
issues also affect family, friends, and loved ones, they are an important
focus in treatment and are afforded the same high caliber of care
A successful therapeutic experience depends on a
holistic approach, incorporating treatment of the mind, body, and spirit
We have a responsibility to persons served and the
community as a whole to provide high quality prevention, intervention, and
treatment activities
Community support is an integral part of the successful
treatment experience.
