Board of Directors
Suzie Davis, Board Chair, has served on the Board of Directors for eight years. Born in Summerville, South Carolina, Ms. Davis enjoys cottage living in a 200 year-old home, next door to her childhood home. She graduated Summerville High School and Brenau College in Gainesville, GA. Ms. Davis has two children and two grandchildren. She is a life long member of Bethany United Methodist Church and has served as Dorchester County Delinquent Tax Collector for 10 years.
Stephen Ratliff, Vice President of Business Development and Operations for The Directions Group, Inc., in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, received an Associates Degree from Trident Technical College and attended MUSC’s Bachelor of Health Science Program. Mr. Ratliff has worked in the health care field since 1985, and serves on the Board of Directors for the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Association. He was born in Summerville where he and his wife, Tammy, still live. Both are active in their community and church. They have two children, a daughter in high school and son in college.
David Rison retired in 2006 from Charleston Southern University History Department where he taught for 38 years, serving as Department Chair for 18 of those years. Dr. Rison has served on the South Carolina Humanities Council and dedicates his time to several academic and civic organizations. He is married to Susan Smith Rison who retired from the Dorchester public schools in 2007. The Risons have two grown children and three grandchildren. Dr. Rison has served on the DADC Board of Directors for nearly 30 years.
Mike Montei has been a member of the Board since 2005. He graduated from The Citadel in 1987 and was elected to The Citadel Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005. Married with 2 teenage girls, Mr. Montei is employed as Relationship Manager at the First Citizens Bank, Summerville branch. He finds time to serve as president for both the Parks Field Dixie Youth Baseball and the Summerville High School Softball Booster Club. Mr. Montei is also Deacon at Summerville Baptist Church where he performs as a member of the Lowcountry Singing Christmas Tree.
Bali Cuthbert is a retired educator of 30-plus years, having been employed as a teacher, school counselor, District Coordinator for school counselors, and Coordinator for Drug Free Schools. As a member of St. Luke’s Church, Ms. Cuthbert provides on-call ministry services. Further, she enjoys the creative outlet of her wedding floral business, Carolina Floral Creations.
Elizabeth (Genie) Gore, a retired educator of Dorchester District Two, taught elementary gifted education for most of her 29 professional years and published educational materials for gifted students. Along with her husband Dennis, Ms. Gore teaches youth Sunday school, where she has committed her gifts for 27 years. Ms.Gore has served as Executive Committee Chairman of the Trolley Road Precinct. Currently she is CEO of Watchmen International, USA, a Christian charity that provides meals and preschool education to AIDS orphans in Uganda.
James Muscott is a retired engineer with extensive volunteer and civic experience in the field of drug and alcohol prevention services. Dr. Muscott maintains a private dental practice in Summerville.
