The Court-Related Services Division of the
Dorchester Alcohol and Drug Commission provides a range of services and programs
for clients referred by the Courts, the Solicitor's Office, Probation and
Parole, and Law Enforcement Divisions.
Work closely with all branches of the criminal justice system, with the
goal of reducing repeat offenders.
Qualified staff, including a psychiatrist, a Ph.D. psychologist and
accredited counselors.
Counseling approach tailored to each person's needs.
The following programs are included:
ADSDAP
Alcohol and Drug Safety Action
Program - Statewide assessment, education and/or treatment program for people
convicted of driving under the influence (DUI).
Anyone convicted of DUI must complete the ADSAP program in order to get a new
S.C. driver's license.
Individualized assessment by licensed addictions counselors is the program's key element.
Program components (education and/or counseling) and length of participation are
structured to meet each person's needs.
OFFENDER BASED INTERVENTION
An evaluation, education and/or counseling program designed for
people
currently on probation or parole.
Clients are referred by the Courts or
Probation and Parole.
Programs of counseling and education are
developed to meet each client's needs.
PRE-TRIAL INTERVENTION COUNSELING
The Counseling component of the Solicitor's Pre-Trial Program, which
allows prosecution to be deferred for first -time, non-violent offenders.
Clients are referred by the Solicitor's
Office.
Program provides assessment, education and
counseling services tailored to each client's needs and the Court's requirements.
Families are involved in counseling as
appropriate.
Upon completion of the Pre-Trial
Intervention program, records are cleared of charges.
CATCH 21
In response to a need recognized by the Courts, a special program has
been designed for young people under 21 who have been arrested for minor possession of
alcohol.
Clients are referred by Judges or Law
Enforcement officials.
Assessment, education, and individual,
group and family counseling are key aspect of the program.
Personal responsibility, decision making
skills and positive behavior changes are stressed.
Referrals are made to other programs or
treatment as necessary.
