PREVENTION SERVICES
programs are designed to help prevent and reduce alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse by:
Educating people about
the risks of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use BEFORE problems occur.
Helping parents
strengthen positive family management skills to reduce the risk of their children using alcohol or
other drugs.
Working with area
schools, churches and employers to conduct workshops that help people learn about risk factors
which might trigger the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs
Helping those who are at
risk of alcohol and drug problems learn to deal with life's challenges without alcohol or other drugs.
PREVENTION SERVICES offers programs and
workshops for parents to help strengthen their parenting skills and prevention techniques.

Talking With Your Kids
About Alcohol and Other Drugs

Related discussion topics can also be tailored to meet the needs and
interests of your group. Workshops can be held at school, church, business or other location.
PREVENTION SERVICES works closely with Dorchester County Schools by sponsoring:
Programs to teach young
people how to resist pressures to use alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
Support groups for
at-risk students where problems and issues can be shared.
Youth leadership training
to provide skills in conflict resolution, communication.
PREVENTION SERVICES
seeks to improve the quality of life for all area residents by:
Leading discussions and
workshops to educate the community about alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse issues.
Coordinating the
Dorchester Community Partnership to design a community-wide approach to prevention.
Working with various
agencies and community coalitions to ensure that prevention services are provided to all county residents.
