The Dorchester Alcohol and Drug Commission operates four divisions to meet the needs of the area residents:

High quality alcohol and drug treatment without the hospital stay and the high cost of inpatient programs.

         

  Evening schedule allows clients to keep their jobs and normal work schedules.

  While in treatment, clients can live at home with their families.

  Families are closely involved in the program to help them work on family issues.

        

  An alcohol and drug treatment program designed just for women, so they can remain at home with their children.

  Morning schedules and available child care to make it easier for mothers to participate.

  Education and training on parenting, stress, family planning, and money management, as well as alcohol and drug treatment.

Quality counseling for adults, teens, children and families.

  Treatment for anxiety/stress, divorce/separation, family violence, codependency issues, etc.

  Individual, group and family therapy, with approaches designed to meet clients' needs.

  High-quality counseling at rates considerable below private counseling.

Support for all branches of the criminal justice system, with the goal of reducing repeat offenses.

 

  Clients referred by the Courts, the Solicitor's Office, Probation and Parole, or Law Enforcement Officers.

 

  Assessment, education and/or counseling are key parts of the programs, which include ADSAP and Pre-Trial Intervention.

 

Education and outreach programs for the community.

 

  Programs and workshops to educate the community about alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse issues.

 

  Help for parents in strengthening their parenting skills to reduce the risk that children will use alcohol or other drugs.

  When employees' job performances are being hurt by personal problems or alcohol/drug use, employers can arrange an EAP.
